北京金盾建材有限公司董事長閆志剛于1986年開始從事防水材料及混凝土外加劑的研究和生產，從創立伊始，就致力于系統化的解決防水相關問題，現已成為集科研開發、生產制造、材料銷售、工程施工、技術咨詢服務于一體的高新技術企業。公司在北京順義、河北玉田設有大型現代化生產研發基地。公司從1992年開始從事改性瀝青系列防水卷材及防水涂料的研究與生產，是國內較早一批的專業防水材料生產企業之一，公司是中國建筑防水協會理事會常務理事，全國防水技術產業聯盟常務理事單位，北京市建設工程物資協會防水材料分會副會長單位、北京建筑防水行業誠信聯盟會員單位。
金盾公司在行業內率先通過了GB/T 19001-2008/ISO 9001：2008 質量管理體系認證、GB/T 24001-2004/ISO 14001：2004環境管理體系認證、GB/T 28001-2011/OHSAS 18001：2007 職業健康安全管理體系認證、CTC（中國建材）認證以及北京園林科學研究院耐根穿刺防水卷材的阻根測試。公司始終將技術創新作為提升企業核心競爭力的有力抓手，持續加強人才隊伍建設，不斷提升研究開發能力，公司創建了自己的研發中心，并與各大專業院校和防水行業研究機構合作開展科研公關，成立了若干個科研專題小組，不斷研究出新產品新技術，先后獲得多項國家發明專利和實用新型專利證書。
